What has led me to creating this site?

That I can’t say for certainty, it was an idea I had about 3 hours ago and rather than put it off for a later date, I thought “Why not?”. I could look back on this one day and thank it for being the thing that helped make a drastic change in my life, or something I remember when my hosting fees get taken from my bank account in a years time as that idea I had in 2024 and moved on from.

Only time will tell.

Reasons I have created this blog

1. I have a lot of ideas, so many in fact that many don’t get the time they deserve and end up drowned out by the next 10 ideas, which as you may suspect, get drowned out by the next 100. I have countless notebooks that when I look over, I recall the moment I had the idea and I then also remember what was next. Having a blog will allow me to put my thoughts into one place, and I would hope, encourage me to stay the course with the few ideas I want to stick to without the distraction of the next big thing.
2. I have a general idea about how my life will play out, I one day would like a farm of my own in a Mediterranean or Latin American country, for this I will need both significant cash to purchase a property without a mortgage, as well as a few sources of income to be able to fund the project and lifestyle. By having a blog I can declare this to the world (or anyone that reads this) and I suppose keep myself accountable.
3. I want to help others who may be in a similar position to me, at the time of writing this I am about to embark on a new career in teaching. In 5 weeks time I am moving to a new city to start my teacher training. I guess this is a reflection of who I am, I enjoy passing on my knowledge where possible and helping out people. If I can use this platform to build my own life and support a few people on the way to supporting their own, then I will be a happy man.

What will this blog really be about though?

As I previously said, I am about to undertake a career change and I see this as the start of my next chapter, I also see this as an opportunity to build my foundations for my future.

I may have hinted that personal finance plays a big role in building said new life and that will be the basis of this blog. This new chapter I expect will involve paying off debt, purchasing my first home (and hopefully a few more) and beginning to build up my investments. It will also be about building a new business, after many years of trail and error in e-commerce, I have aspirations to build something a bit different based on some new skills I have learnt at vocational college and want to put into action.

What’s next?

Well, as I near the end of this first blog post, I now have to think about what I will really write about, catchy titles, some specifics about my goals so that I can actually picture them and come up with the steps I intend to take to get me there.
